Winter reveals what’s underneath; a rusty gate usually overwhelmed by briars, the cattle shed at the ruined cottage. Tantalising glimpses into what is out of reach during the leafier seasons.
Strangely today it was all in shades of blue, or at least that’s how I saw things under the cool January sky…..

Are people not allowed to stop because the roads are so small and it could create accidents? That is the only possible reason I could think of for not allowing people to pull off the road and take photos. ("But they could have "scenic view outcroppings!" she protested.) These are lovely Catherine. I love your long telescopic shots from time to time because it reminds me of the visits I've had in Ireland, but all the things I DIDN"T get to see, all the places I long for from time to time…

Hi Susie, the thing about the road is that we have a brand new motorway built during our short lived boom. It comes with a gorgeous bridge too, even if there are now tolls all over it! On motorways there is no way to stop except at designated areas. They ran out of money so there isn't even one petrol station or shop just one or two lay-bys. So that's the reason for no stopping, although you couldn't stop on one of the narrow roads either now that I think of it! Next time Susie, next time……

mmm had to linger on that one!

Thanks Diana, that gate is pretty ancient. Most of them have been replaces by modern ones. Long may it survive!

Thank you! There's always some kind of blue around us even if it isn't always the sky!
