An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life…
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
“One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
“The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
“This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Perfect Catherine, thank you so much for this story when we all need to hear it. I will be pointing my friends in the direction of this post.

Thanks Jane, worth holding on to……x

Thanks, Catherine. This has always been one of my favourite fables and as Jane says, it always seems to pop up when it’s needed. I love how it can be applied to every clash, to every decision about feeding what fuels us. I apply it to the choice of blogs/feeds/sites I visit when I notice mounting overwhelm, which is usually a sign of a wolf fight. I only go to the online homes of authentic folk who enrich my life in some way. These days, that’s mainly the sites of photographers, like yourself, who also write.

Janice I think this is a real issue for bloggers. I realised a few years ago that I would have to focus on the creative side of things and let go some of the following of other blogs. It’s great when I eventually get a chance to sit back and browse the wonderful blogs that are available, but I can’t keep up all the time. I figure as you say, that it’s good to be selective and soak up what feeds the good wolf! Thank you so much for your support and for getting it, it really means a lot to me x

These are very precious words, always needed, in all aspects of our lives. I will share them with my little Elsa. Along with your images (she’s another admirer of foxglove lane), treasures from summer. Thank you.
Catherine Drea says
Ahhh lovely that Elsa enjoys Foxglove Lane. Send her a big hello from Ireland, I am a big fan of hers too. x

Glorious, lovely images, I love that you shared them with this wonderful Cherokee story, such a favorite for so long. I agree with all that Janice says and I find that I apply the same reasoning when choosing where to put my energy with our online and news saturated world.
xo
Catherine Drea says
Yes it is a saturated and fairly neurotic place to be at times…..but then there is so much goodness in the world…..x

I have to remember that one for my grandsons.
Your images are so very beautiful. The cows seem to look directly at me.
