It’s not something we see around here in the dead of winter. Red, the colour of vibrance, heat, attention. So any little pop of red here on the lane is precious and impossible to ignore.
I’ve gone through most of life not wanting to stand out or be too brash. The (so called) worst thing a girl can be, is a bit of a show off. And yet when I meet a young girl with a twinkling sense of her own mischief I love it. Don’t you?
Look here how a bit of showing off cheers up the day, sparkles in the greyness of January and brings such happiness? And anyway for a photographer, one of the ground rules is always photograph RED!
Absolutely stunning! I love how the red pops – a great color for the grey of winter.
Thanks Carola, it warms the heart:~))
Bold and brash in a ladylike way – I like it Catherine! Do you know I went to the physio last week, ongoing back problem. She told me I have to learn to stick out my behind, stop holding myself in, because it's causing pain. Maybe we're not too old to start being a bit mischievous ourselves – for health reasons of course!
Haha! Jane I love it! We are never too old, I'm all for it. Stick it out for heavens sake!!
beautiful!!! I believe that mother nature knows just what she is doing with all the red in the depths of winter.
Cindy….that must be true……the perfect little spot of red here and there…..thank you :~)
Yes! Red & bold & brash, we should all strive for the mischief making girls we know we are! Your images just always make my heart leap!
O thank you Susan! You are a great example of a mischief making girl with a glint in the eye! Long may it continue…..
With red winter even photos are warm. Regards.
Yes it glows….red does……
Mum…painter…always said the eye needs a bit of red…great pics!
Gerry that's so sweet, yes she was right, and the heart too I think……
I was told by people who know these things that red is a good color to paint your dining room, because it invites the appetite and wraps itself around you with warmth when the candles and fire are burning. That made sense to me, so I painted my dining room reddish orange with flicks of copper. Perhaps red attracts the appetite of the birds! Certainly the hummers look for red when they are trying to find juice to sustain them. Red is rich and just a bit of it goes a long way. Nature knows what she is doing doesn't she? I adore your work and your eye for where the "juice" is-:))
Thanks Susie, having just taken in an eyeful of your lemons I'm going searching for that zingy quality now!!
I didn't know that rule. I have red twig dogwood shrubs that show off their red branches all winter against the snow…and catching a red cardinal bird sitting in the snow is stunning….love your red pics Catherine!
Go for it Donna, I read it somewhere once…….and it always seems to be true……
Oh, I love it too in these young girls! Let's not forget how! ♥ red!
